Proud

Great! I was away for 2 days and i notice quite a few new followers on my blog. Welcome new ones, i am honoured and i hope you like your wandering in my world.

Awhile ago i wrote about my eldest son Chris Jarik (13) who also loves drawing and painting. He also wanted a blog to post his work and interests. So i opened an account for him. If you're interested you can take a look, just click the image:

I've got a sun in me

I always have to take some distance after finishing a drawing or painting. When i'm working on it i think it's great (after some struggles etc), when it's finished i most of the time think it's crap. Then i let it rest for a day or two. After the rest (distance) i can look at it again and can appreciate what i have done. Some more than other but i think all artists know what i mean. And if the piece after the rest still looks like crap i paint it over or throw it away.
This drawing i found too neat after finishing it. The lady too sweet, but now after the rest i can appreciate it. But this one isn't love at first sight haha.

May your dreams not be too sweet!

An uneasy one?

I draw and paint to express my feelings. Sometimes also hard, difficult feelings from the past. Or things i notice, what's going on in the world. I do not create to make beautiful images. I create to tell a story. Sometimes the story is beautiful, sometimes harsh or both sweet and dark at the same time. Is that possible? I think so. There's also a form of beauty in dark stories. I can imagine that the images from my 'Is that blood on the floor?' series can cause un uneasy feeling. That's not my goal btw, but i'm aware of it. I will not explain what it's about, i think everybody can make his own story. But it's about women and these women are one way or another strong women, not victims.

The beginning of

A rough beginning of a painting i started awhile ago. I wanna paint this on a large canvas........

Spring feelings

Yesterday i had another good mail day because i received a lovely package from Yvette in return for my Blue lady card. The package holds a nice felt purse in beautiful spring colours, my favourites: purple, a little bit orange, and the inside a dark purper red. I'll use this beauty for special little treasures like expensive markers, or special buttons. There is also two tiny, little mirrors on the purse, like sparkling eyes. Also i find a black felt bracelet with some purple, yellow and green in it and a subtle glittering blue thread, which i love a lot. I can wear it around my arm as a bracelet or i attach it on my purse like a special decoration.
Yvette, sweetheart, thank you for bringing this lovely, soft and nice smelling spring feelings to me. xoxo

Catherine est mort

When i was in France last year, drawing, listening to the French local radio, there was a man telling something about Catherine. Catherine est mort. The girl has died and he was telling her story. I didn't understand it all, but recognized some words. While listening to the voice of the man, i started to sketch and this is what came out..... Isn't it strange but beautiful to feel sorrow in your heart for a girl you never knew?

Brian Sylvester from Inkpunk artworks

Singular Ocular#2 * Brian Sylvester

Brian from Inkpunk artworks wrote about a good mail day after receiving a package from me. Today was a good mail day for me because i received a package from Brian. One that made me very happy! When opening the package i was so amazed about what's in it. First of all his painting <-Holland dreams, which he painted some years ago as a remembrance of Holland where Brian lived and worked for awhile. He thought it would be the perfect painting to trade and i couldn't agree more. I love the idea of it, that after some years the painting finds a home in the country where Brain was inspired to paint this one. When holding the painting in my hands i was touched. Such an unique feeling to hold a painting you love in your own hands. I will cherish this painting and it will have a good place on my wall. I was so surprised that Brian had send another small painting: Singular Ocular #2, with it's bright colours that reminds me of spring. Beautiful! You are so generous Brian, thank you dear friend! And if that wasn't enough the package holds more surprises, three watercoloured cards. Two were unfinished, Brian thought that my eldest son Chris and i would have fun by finishing these cards. So thoughtful, Chris was glowing with joy. We sure will finish one card, the other two were good, i wouldn't dare to draw over them. Then there were some Inkpunk printed cards and namecards. I will spread them Brian to let people know about your art. And there was also a little guirlande with Tibetan happy wish flags. Oh my am i a lucky girl or not? This made my day! Check out Brians blog where you can find his wonderful art and thoughts, it's worthwhile. His work is bright, (sometimes) humorous and with a punky feel i think. There is also his Etsy shop where you can buy his art.

Thank you Brian for making my day!

Another try

A while ago i had a post about a little movie i made from my drawing Black bird. There were little comments but i find out this had to do with the adjustments, i had injusted the video on private. I have changed this, so i hope you now can watch the video. Please let me know if you can or cannot watch the movie. It isn't a perfect movie, but i had much fun making it and appreciate your thoughts about it.
So a new try, here it is: Black birds.

Renee; a sparkling, sweet spirit

The first time i found Renee on the world wide web i was intruiged. Her bright and sparkling spirit attracted my attention. This lady who had to deal with so much sorrow and illness and loss of beloved ones in a very short time got my admiration because she stayed positive at all times. And then she shined also because of her always supportive and empathic comments on other peoples blog. Therefore i was so happy to meet her here in the blogosphere where she puts a smile upon my face with her lovely and sweet comments. Reading her blog i became aware that Renee herself was ill, more ill than i suspected at that time. Perhaps i didn't want to believe it because of her oh so lively, sparkling spirit. Her beautiful posts about her life and family, with so much love in it, made me feel close to her, feeling friendship. And i thanked her for her openess and her gift of making people feel good. About themselves and life.
Then her daughter posted on her blog that Renee was ill, suffering from much pain, that she wasn't able to post herself. All blogfriends, included me were happy with this post, Renee was so much missed and i was wondering. I wasn't the only one. After this post i was afraid fo find a new post. Praying for Renee and her lovely family, hoping for miracles.

I just opened my blog and saw in the sideline a new post on Renee's blog. I immediately knew what it was all about and felt, feel lots of sorrow. Renee is gone, she starts a new journey to the well of love and life, she's gone home. I am happy for her, she now is free of pain and reunited with her beloved ones who already were on this journey. I feel sorrow for her family, because they must be heartbroken with the loss of this caring, beautiful spirit.

Renee, you'll be missed but the love that you spread around blooms in the hearts of all people around the world that had the luck to meet you. I wish all your family and friends lots of strength and send you all my blessings and love.

All good things

Isn't blogging fun? I love it; to write, to post my art, to visit other blogs that inspires me, to read all sweet, wise, supportive comments. To receive a comment from you is always like a little present for me. It certainly makes my day, feeling happy. Last week all good things came my direction, that is related with blogging.

First of all: the book The pictorial consequence of Caio Fernandes arrived. Wow! this made me very happy. At first i had difficulties with ordering, but Blurb mailed me directly their advice and that worked. And i got the book sooner than i (impatiently) hoped for. Than the book itself: i had high expectations, but this beautiful book was even more than i could imagine. I turned page after page and noticed i was holding my breath. I am a fan of Caio's work, but to see all his work together in a book overwhelmed me. You're so right Caio: the internet doesn't do justice for your work. I was amazed by all the beautiful colors in your paintings. Colors that i didn't notice on the net. And your blue is far more deeper and intenser than i thought. I only can imagine how intense and emotional it must be standing in front of your work. I'm sure that will take my breath away. I really hope that some day i have this chance; to see your amazing work for real. But i am very, very happy with the book!

Second: i had the trade post, maybe you remember? Three cards i had to offer for some other pearls. And three lovely people were happy to trade with me. I had my packets waiting to travel to their new homes (your packet is now on the way Yvette) and i received some nice packets back.

William Michaelian traded my card The torch for his book No time to cut my hair. His book also arrived last week. I already have (read) his book The painting of you. A beautiful story about his relationship with his mother, which is moving and humorous also. The William Michaelian humour which i like a lot. And his book winter poems; beautiful painted images thru even more beautiful words. So you can guess i am very happy with this new book. I'll read it very s l o w e l y because with his work i always find it a pity when it's finished. The photograph on the cover from this book; a little William with his grandfather, is sweet. Nice hours reading this book is what i'm looking forward to.

As i visited the blog of Ria for the first time i was intruiged. A strong woman who is surviving two cancers and translates this process, this journey into strong images and words. I love her art a lot in which you also can find the influence of Frida Kahlo. The transformations of the women on wellknown famous paintings is very ingenious. Visit her blog and you know what i'm talking about. She traded my Wild lady for three of her cards which pleases me a lot. They have find a good place between other cards, little statues etc. which are close to my heart. These cards she has submitted for the Book about death exposition in New York. You now also can collect them at the same kind of exposition in Sao Paul, Brasil and (soon) Scotland i think. More information on Ria's blog.

The third trade with sweet Yvette is on it's way to her home. :-) This trading project is such fun! There will be following more soon.

If that wasn't enough i received another parcel. As i wrote before; i won a beautiful brooch from Whitney- Anne. It came with a sweet postcard, was packaged in soft blotting paper, in a heartshaped box that smelled like sweet soap. Very lovely and i'm happy with it. It's fun to wear this lovely brooch. Thank you Whitney.

And to make me feel even more like a birthday girl (it's not my birthday yet): last week i also received my new book; Momo Luna's organic world. William is the first one to have seen it. :-) I'll post more information later. And today i received new passe-partouts for my drawings. Great! Ánd the postcards i've printed from my drawing The beginning. They look wonderful i think. :-)

Another happy thing: I'm working on a mandala, because Shana Goetsch has asked me to join the Art that circles the eart project. I love her art, so i decided to join. So exciting.

And last but not least: i am trading a drawing from me and some other surprises (i cannot blab yet) for the painting Holland dreams by Brian of Inkpunk artworks. Isn't that great? I love this painting a lot. And that it is painted with memories of Holland is such a nice circle.

You should see me glowing with happiness these days. And to complete this happiness: spring is showing a tiny, tiny bit of her face the last two days.

Since i've been very, very busy lately, i haven't had the chance to visit all my favourite blogs. But one of these days i'll pop up again, don't worry. ;-)
